About Office of the Chief Justice (OCJ)

The OCJ is South Africa’s highest judicial office, overseeing the administration of the judiciary and ensuring the independence of the courts. It manages Superior courts, including the Constitutional Court and High Courts, supporting effective court administration services.


Applicants need a Matric certificate, 1-3 years’ secretarial experience, a valid driver’s license, and an LLB degree or progress towards it. Successful candidates must pass a typing test.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include call screening, appointment scheduling, document filing, court file preparation, and handling correspondence. The secretary ensures timely submission of judgments, manages court files, and communicates with stakeholders.

Submit applications quoting the relevant reference number to the Director: Human Resources, OCJ. Applications can be sent via mail (Private Bag X10, Marshalltown, 2107) or hand-delivered to the OCJ office in Midrand. Applicants must use the new Z83 form, accompanied by a comprehensive CV.
