Job Purpose

The primary purpose of the Receptionist/ Switchboard Operator role is to deliver effective and professional administrative services to Sasria and its stakeholders. This includes efficiently handling queries and answering calls on the switchboard with a professional demeanor.

Minimum Requirements


  • Senior Certificate (Grade 12 or equivalent)
  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)


  • Minimum 3-5 years as a receptionist/switchboard operator
  • Alternatively, 5 years in facilities or Office Administration/Coordinator/Assistant environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Switchboard Management|Reception

    • Answer calls on the switchboard efficiently and promptly, adhering to Sasria standards.
    • Re-route calls to various departments/staff.
    • Handle queries in a professional manner.
    • Keep a record of non-Sasria related calls.
    • Arrange relief personnel for breaks and meetings.
    • Welcome visitors.

General Office Administration

    • Re-route hand-delivered mail and parcels to departments and Managers.
    • Control the Post Register.
    • Request quotations for stationery and groceries per procurement policy.
    • Capture PR on the system for stationery and groceries.
    • Update internal extension telephone list and distribute to relevant staff.
    • Health and Safety representative duties.

Ad hoc Duties

    • Perform any reasonable task as required by the Facilities Team Leader.
