Covering an expansive 198,000 hectares, the municipality comprises agricultural and residential zones, alongside bodies of water. As part of its commitment to fostering education and skills development, the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality is pleased to announce its bursary program for the academic year 2024.

Eligible Fields of Study

The bursaries target students from the Bushbuckridge area pursuing studies in the following scarce skills fields:

  • Urban and Regional Planning (Town Planning)

  • Architecture
  • Agricultural Studies

  • Youth in Development
  • Economics
  • Chemistry
  • Communication
  • Law
  • Social Science
  • Statistics
  • Other Management Studies

Eligibility Criteria

The bursaries will be awarded to candidates meeting the following criteria:

  • South African citizenship and residency in Bushbuckridge Local Municipality
  • Enrollment in one of the specified fields of study
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Belonging to a disadvantaged and indigent family

Bursary Requirements and Application Process

Application Forms and Locations

Interested students can obtain application forms from the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality office located at R533 Graskop Road, opposite the Mapulaneng Driving Licensing Testing Centre, Bushbuckridge. Application forms are also available at the nearest municipal regional offices.

Required Documents

Submit your application along with the following documents:

  • Certified copies of birth certificate or identification document (ID)
  • Certified copies of parents/guardians proof of income
  • Certified copies of grade 12 certificate or a copy of grade 12 June examination results
  • Certification from a medical doctor for applicants with disabilities
  • Acceptance letter from a tertiary institution
  • Proof of residence
  • A letter from a local social worker confirming indigent status

Submission Details

Complete the application form and submit it with the required documents to the municipal Head Office and/or the nearest municipal Regional Office. Email, faxed, and incomplete forms will not be considered. Only successful applicants will be contacted. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified by the end of February.

Closing Date

The deadline for submitting applications is 26 January 2024.
