Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carry out fault diagnosis to aid and speed vehicle servicing.
  • Ensure diagnostic equipment is used in vehicle examinations.
  • Follow DCSA procedures and policies during repairs, keeping printouts for documentation.
  • Accurately diagnose faults to customers’ satisfaction and discuss matters with Service Advisors.
  • Cooperate in vehicle care and safety while dealing with vehicles.
  • Limit comebacks to a minimum and attend breakdown calls as required.
  • Return vehicles to customers in a neat, clean condition after service.
  • Sign for all parts at the parts department and use them on the relevant vehicle.
  • Return unused parts to the parts department.
  • Ensure diagnosis leads to the most cost-effective and accurate remedy for faults or customer complaints.
  • Provide advice or use techniques to ensure quality but save time.
  • Offer a fault-finding and systems diagnostic service on motor vehicles.
  • Complete necessary forms and documentation included in the company’s service routine.
  • Draft and prepare any required reports.
  • Make suggestions and give advice regarding any special promotional campaign and take part in campaigns.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work area at all times.
  • Complete Job Cards in full and hand them to the service advisor promptly after vehicle repair, ensuring correct repair clocking.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 with Maths and Physical Science
  • N2 in Engineering Science, Technical Drawing, Maths, Motor Trade Theory
  • Valid Driver’s License
