George Municipality Bursary 2024 . George Municipality is a local municipality located in the Garden Route District Municipality within the Western Cape Province, South Africa. With a population exceeding 193,672 individuals across 53,551 households according to the 2011 census, George Municipality plays a crucial role in governing the coastal area.

Established in December 2000 during the local elections, George Municipality emerged as a single local authority responsible for coastal area governance. Over time, changes occurred, and in 2011, the District Management Area (DMA) of the Eden District, located north of the Outeniqua Mountains, was dissolved, incorporating the region into the George Municipality. George Municipality Bursary 2024

In recognition of the importance of sustainable development for South African youth, George Municipality is pleased to announce its bursary program for the academic year 2024.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the George Municipality Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a permanent resident of George, within the Western Cape Province of South Africa.
  • Current Grade 12 learners or those who have passed Grade 12 in 2022 or 2021.
  • Previous recipients of the George Municipality bursary are eligible to apply.
  • Must be enrolled or willing to study in a Municipal (local government sector) or similar qualifications.
  • Joint household income must not exceed R350,000 per year.
  • Preference will be given to study fields of scarce skills.

Important Note

Applications not meeting the criteria, submitted late, or incomplete applications will be rejected. Shortlisted candidates will be required to enter into a bursary contract with George Municipality, and canvassing for a bursary award will result in disqualification.

How To Apply

Application forms for the George Municipality Bursary can be obtained at the reception desks of George/Uniondale or Haarlem Municipal offices.

Documents Required

Applicants must submit the following documents along with their application form:

  • Certified copy of ID document
  • Letter of acceptance from the educational institution
  • Original registration certificate confirming the study field and subjects the student has opted for
  • Resume (maximum 2 pages)
  • For continuation of studies, previous year’s academic results (if applicable)
  • Proof of residence (Municipal account or other relevant proof)
  • Proof of Grade 12 results OR Most recent June academic report (certified copies)
  • Certified documentary proof of income of parents/guardians (combined income with a maximum limit of R350,000.00 per year)
  • Statements stating the monthly expenses of the student’s parents/guardians
  • Documentary proof of indigent household status for eligible students
  • Motivation letter from the tertiary institution or school principal

Closing Date

The application deadline is 20 November 2023, Monday, at 12:00 pm.
