Helpdesk Agent Needed at Herotel. Are you passionate about providing exceptional customer service and troubleshooting technical issues? Herotel is looking for a Helpdesk Agent – Tier 1 to join their team in Ventersdorp.

Purpose of the Role

As a Tier 1 Helpdesk Agent, you will be the first point of contact for customers, providing friendly and efficient support. Your responsibilities will include troubleshooting internet connectivity issues, assisting with emails, routers, and network-related queries, and occasionally handling VOIP queries. You will provide support through various communication channels and escalate complex issues when necessary.

Key Performance Areas

  • Provide first call resolution support to customers via telephone, WhatsApp, Webchat, Distant-Desktop, Route-this, and e-mail.
  • Log requests through Herotel’s ticketing system and update ticket status daily.
  • Attempt to resolve issues permanently on the first call and on the same day, providing regular feedback to customers.
  • Assist walk-in clients where applicable.
  • Redirect incoming calls to the correct departments and record messages as needed.


  • Grade 12 / Senior Certificate.
  • N+ & A+ certification, or at least 1 year experience in an Internet Service Provider helpdesk call center or ticketing environment.
  • Minimum 1-year experience working with Wireless and Wi-Fi Routers.
  • Networking, ICT, and Telecommunications technology knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely when required.
  • Proficient in English (written and verbal), with a second language being preferable.
  • Must be willing to work shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • Basic understanding of PC hardware setup and configuration advantageous.
  • Layer 2 switching knowledge/ability advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Mikrotik, Cambium, Ubiquiti, and totolink hardware.

Education Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Senior Certificate.
  • N+ & A+ certification, or at least 1 year experience in an Internet Service Provider helpdesk call center or ticketing environment.
  • Additional ICT qualification advantageous.
