NERSA Bursaries Are Now Available. The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) is inviting eligible students to apply for their bursary programme for the 2024 academic year. This opportunity is aimed at supporting students pursuing Masters or PhD Degrees in specific fields.

Eligibility Requirements for the NERSA Bursary

To qualify for the NERSA Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • South African Citizenship: Applicants must be South African citizens.
  • Academic Pursuit: Intending to study towards a Masters or PhD Degree in 2024.
  • Acceptance to University: Accepted to study at a South African University or University of Technology.
  • Academic Excellence: A strong academic record and potential for academic success.
  • Disadvantaged Background: From a previously disadvantaged background.
  • Financial Need: Demonstrated financial need.
  • No Other Bursary Funding: Not in receipt of any other bursary funding.
  • Career Interest: Interested in pursuing a career in the energy sector.

Application Process for the NERSA Bursary

Applicants meeting the eligibility criteria must follow these steps:

    • ID document (certified copy)
    • Full tertiary academic record of the highest qualification completed (certified copy)
    • University acceptance letter (on institution’s letterhead)
    • Dissertation topic and abstract
    • Motivational letter (approximately 500 words)
    • Parents or guardians’ ID documents (certified copies)

Parents or guardians’ household proof of income (latest payslips if employed, affidavit if unemployed, proof of grant or pension if applicable)
