Job Purpose

Reporting directly to the Group Chief Executive Officer, the Secretary’s primary responsibility is to deliver a holistic Secretariat service to the Group Executive, ensuring adherence to SABC’s statutory and governance compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Operational Efficiency and Cost Management

  • Compile and distribute Group Executive meeting documentation.
  • Attend and minute Group Executive meetings and other forums.
  • Maintain minute books in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Assist in executing Corporate Strategy by communicating decisions effectively.
  • Coordinate, organize, and convene meetings and workshops.
  • Manage parliamentary questions for the Office of the GCEO.

2. Governance Risk and Compliance

  • Monitor compliance with legislation and ethical codes.
  • Ensure strict adherence to the Delegation of Authority Framework.
  • Stay updated on corporate governance developments and advise Group Executives.
  • Oversee the management of communication risks to protect organizational integrity.
  • Monitor and address gaps identified in internal risk audits.

3. Stakeholder Management

  • Facilitate synergies with the SABC Board, Exco members, and committees.
  • Implement effective networking strategies with a diverse population of customers and stakeholders.
  • Promote the SABC brand and reputation with key customers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • GCISA Governance Institute of South Africa (formerly known as CISA Chartered Institute of Southern Africa) OR
  • National Diploma in Law (paralegal studies)/ BCOM/BA Law/ LLB/ or relevant qualifications (NQF6/7)

Experience

  • 6 years’ experience in the Secretariat environment

  • Knowledge of reporting and financial requirements of PFMA, Broadcasting Act, Companies Act, and other relevant legislation.
  • Time management in a highly pressured environment with stringent deadlines.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Maintenance of confidential information.
