SARAO leads South Africa’s involvement in the SKA’s engineering, science, and construction, with the telescope spanning locations in Australia and eight African countries. As a National Facility administered by the National Research Foundation, SARAO oversees radio astronomy programs and instruments, including MeerKAT and KAT-7 telescopes, the Hartebeesthoek Radio Astronomy Observatory (HartRAO), the African Very Long Baseline Interferometry (AVN) program, and associated human capital development and commercialization efforts.
